I went travelling a few years ago and spent many months in India - I loved it so much I really was sad to have to leave.

I visited Goa for a while and was very lucky to time my visit so I was the only visitor in the area. I stayed in a small room practically on the beach and was the only person (tourist) around so I had everything to myself.

I really loved being the only tourist in places as I could see all the sites and meet the local people without masses of other tourists around - I always felt I was getting a much more real impression of the country.

I often visited places knowing I would not encounter other travellers and these places were always the most interesting and fun.

I once locked myself outside of my hotel room in NYC and spent two hours sleeping on the floor sharing it with a Rat and roaches. NICE. Be safe.
