Hong Kong is a nice place, and there is good food there. It seemed very commercial when I visited, but I think Seoul was the same: only I came to Hong Kong from rural China, and to Seoul from Beijing. There is too much opportunity in East Asia.

Also consider Hong Kong for teaching - I had pretty much set myself on Seoul but now am having a hard time deciding. Supposedly the pay for teaching in Hong Kong is absurd, which makes it pretty much ideal for me - I was drawn to the wild west-ness of China, but teaching lacked the pay (you start to get the mainland China feel as soon as you get out of the central area). However, drinking is much cheaper in Seoul, and I find the Koreans generally more affable and fun to be around.

Sometimes I wonder how many corrections my blog requires to be accurate, though I do my best to be veracious. I hope you had some good experiences with the touts.

I met a Korean who went to India, where the same man who ripped her off on some tour to Kashmir, when she said she was running out of money, invited her to stay with his family for a week. She has since been back twice and is more or less adopted. Sometimes it's good to trust people.

Man, those were good times. :)

I really love how you captured everything that has happend in Yuangshuo and around. I'm sorry to have to tell you, that Tian Tu is included in the current LP. Anyways: You kinda cured me of my resentment of touts, as I followed a few of them on my way through Vietnam.

One note though: I'm not a founding member of the Pirate Party, just a regular member.
